Make a sheet that fits your task
Choose the paper type first, then US Letter or A4. Adjust the spacing while watching the preview. Set Normal margin for a home printer; the edge-to-edge option is for borderless printing or a PDF that you will trim later. When you print, keep the scale at 100% so a 5 mm grid still measures 5 mm on paper.
Planning a room
Start with graph paper at 5 mm squares, landscape for a wide floor plan. Pick a darker line if you will photocopy the sheet. Decide on a scale before drawing, for example one square per 10 cm.
Handwriting practice

How do I save the paper as a PDF?

What spacing should I use for graph paper?
5 mm is the everyday standard and quarter inch (6.35 mm) is the US school standard. Use 2-3 mm for detailed engineering or knitting charts, and 10 mm or more for young kids and teaching.
What is the difference between college ruled and wide ruled?
College ruled lines are about 7.1 mm (9/32 inch) apart and wide ruled about 8.7 mm (11/32 inch). Set the spacing slider to match: around 7 mm for college ruled, around 8.5-9 mm for wide ruled.
Why does my printout have extra margins?
Printers cannot print to the very edge of the sheet. In the print dialog, set margins to "None" and leave "scale" at 100%. If your printer still clips the edges, choose the Normal margin option here so the lines stay inside the printable area.
What is the difference between A4 and US Letter?
US Letter is 8.5 x 11 inches (216 x 279 mm); A4 is 210 x 297 mm (8.27 x 11.69 inches) - slightly narrower and taller. The difference matters when you print: a grid designed for one size gets clipped or scaled on the other. Pick the size your printer uses before printing.
